Our Mission

Czech Literary Guide exists to connect readers with the literary culture of the Czech Republic. We cover bookstores, literary cafes, Czech authors, and reading recommendations with the depth and specificity that only comes from years of firsthand experience in the country.

There is no shortage of generic travel guides that mention a few Prague bookshops in passing. What has been missing is a dedicated resource that treats Czech literary culture as a subject worthy of serious, sustained attention. That is the gap we aim to fill.

Editorial Standards

Every venue we recommend has been visited by a member of our team, in most cases multiple times across different seasons. We do not accept paid listings, sponsored content, or affiliate commissions. When we link to external resources, we prioritize established institutions like the Czech Literary Centre, academic sources, and recognized reference works.
